ḤADĪTH OF THE DAY

“ Whenever the Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, dispatched an army or a brigade, he would tell them, "If you see a mosque or hear the call to prayer (1) do not kill anyone." Footnote: 1. A mosque and the Islamic call to prayer assumes the presence of Muslims among the people they were sent out to encounter (whether on patrol or for defense). The dispatched soldiers should not kill anyone in that area for fear of killing Muslims. ”

حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِىُّ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ وَهِشَامٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم الَّذِى يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ وَهُوَ مَاهِرٌ بِهِ مَعَ السَّفَرَةِ الْكِرَامِ الْبَرَرَةِ وَالَّذِى يَقْرَؤُهُ قَالَ هِشَامٌ وَهُوَ شَدِيدٌ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِ شَاقٌّ فَلَهُ أَجْرَانِ. قَالَ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.

The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, "Whoever recites the Qur'ān skillfully will be with the noble, dutiful messenger-angels (in the hereafter); and whoever recites with hardship (according to one narrator) or recites it with difficulty (according to another narrator), will have two rewards."
